Local Kite School

A Watamu kite school by and for the coast it stands on.

About

Local Kite School teaches kitesurfing in Watamu, Kenya, the kind of small, lagoon-front operation where instructors know every student by name. They run lessons across the trade-wind seasons and stay open year-round for visiting riders and locals.

As a Wind Family member school, they host scholarship students throughout each cohort, sharing time, gear and instructors with the other member schools.

What they offer
01

Taster sessions

Short first-time sessions for visitors who want to feel the kite and the water before committing to a full course.

02

Beginner kitesurfing lessons

One-on-one and small-group lessons on Watamu's shallow lagoon, the safest place on the coast to learn. Equipment included.

03

Progression coaching for riders who can already stay upwind: tricks, transitions, riding swell, and downwind sessions.

04

Kites, boards, harnesses and impact vests available for certified independent riders.

05
